Open Application: 1 Feb - 1 March 2012
Dear performing artists, Occupoets, spacemen, hacktivists & other creative freethinkers,
It has been a cold winter with a lot of hot moments in even colder tents. With spring peaking around the corner and creative vibes start buzzing, it is time for the
open application
of the Amsterdam Fringe Festival to start again. So if you have a creative, independent, completely out of the ordinary performance that Amsterdam must see, please register online here from February 1st – March 1st.
The Amsterdam Fringe Festival is now entering it’s 7th year and runs from august 30th until September 9th 2012 on over 30 locations across Amsterdam. This Fringe focuses on performances that have a daring independent mind of their own and would like to show their work in an international context.
The Amsterdam Fringe cooperates with several Fringe Festivals across the globe and aims to enclose a worldwide connection between artists, arts industry professionals & festivals. This Fringe is artists driven. We ask a lot of energy and ambition, as you can read in the criteria for application, but we are also focused on giving you a inspiring context and provide input and opportunities via workshops, guidance via the Art Industry Office & a great creative atmosphere.
Noteworthy to mention: unfortunately for stand-up comics, the Amsterdam Fringe does not accept stand-up comedy. This for the very simple reason that there’s already a great stand-up comedy festival in Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Fringe likes to focus more on the theatre, live art, and the cross-over genres. In that respect, it differs from other Fringe Festivals across the globe. (sorry)
We hope to see your
application

Bis Fringe!
Amsterdam Fringe Festival
10 days // 80 theatre groups // 33 locations // performance, live art, (music) theatre, dance & uninhibited energy
The Amsterdam Fringe Festival takes place in the fringes of the Dutch Theatre Festival, highlighting Amsterdam's avant-garde drama productions.
The Amsterdam Fringe Festival is based on the famous and successful Fringe Festival as they exist in, for example Edinburgh, Adelaide, New York and Dublin.
During those 10 Fringe days you can see works from over 80 theatre groups, of unorthodox, national and international theatre directors and artists, at more then 33 different locations spread throughout the city.
There is an extensive ‘Language No Problem’ program, which means shows that are either in English or that make no use of words or language are marked with LNP sign. About 50% of the shows is suitable for non-Dutch speakers.
“
Step in the Amsterdam Fringe: with its experimental and creative line-up, it’s like Edinburgh’s cooler, edgier younger sibling
.”
