"OH MY IRMA is the award-winning solo play by Canadian rising star Haley McGee, dubbed “the next darling of Canadian theatre” (See Magazine). Directed by Siminovitch Prize Finalist, Chalmers and Dora Award winning director Alisa Palmer, OH MY IRMA sees McGee bring the memorable Mission Bird, a socially inept young woman with an insatiable appetite for connection, to the stage in her hilarious and mesmerizing “tour de force” play.
A comedy with razor teeth, Mission Bird finds herself in front of an audience, defending an unnamable crime which YES, she committed, but it wasn’t her fault. The story takes macabre turns and Mission Bird’s ardent defense crumbles as she comes closer to revealing to the audience what she’s done - who she’s killed.
"Haley McGee is a fearless, raw young talent. For those who want to see a promising talent at the beginning of her career, then OH MY IRMA is worth your time." -Lynn Slotkin, CBC Radio
“Toronto’s Haley McGee creates an unforgettable and often hilarious character in this essentially pitch-dark play. Oh My Irma, written by McGee, is one of those wonderful Fringe shows that sends you out of the theatre dazzled.” -Richard Helm, The Edmonton Journal, 4.5 Stars
