“Dalia El-Abd's latest creation
could be fairly described […] as a true product of the 25 January Egyptian
Revolution, an honest reflection on the deep ideological fissures in the fabric
of Egyptian society this revolution has revealed, with a particular reference
to women's identities in relation to their bodies and to politics.”
review in Al Ahram 5-7-‘12 by Nehad Selaiha :
There are two female
dancers, one dressed in black with the body completely hidden from head to toe,
the other is more of an obsessive sexual display of herself Their characters
develop separately as they simply notice the existence of each other and
throughout the performance the dynamics between them gradually unfolds as their
observation and interference with the other increases.
The idea of this
performance is originally based on an Indian music theory in percussion where
two or more time signatures start on the same first beat, then separate then,
overlap again.
